Our Transformers and Go Getting Girls have been busy "Transforming the School", they have undertaken many tricky tasks, but have worked very hard to turn the Wildlife area back into a place that is really accessible for the whole school. The Transformers have cut back trees, bushes and brambles to open up the area.
New bird tables have been erected and the Transformers/Go -getting Girls have worked with younger children to create bird cakes, to ensure the wildbirds have plenty to eat.
Part of their work involved working with the Site Manager to erect a new "Transformer Shed", where they can store all of their tools.
They have also planted vegetables and fruits , which they are growing so that they can sell them at the Summer Fete. These include: potatoes, spring onions, red cabbage, carrots and herbs.
During their research, they have interviewed staff at local garden centres and DIY stores to ensure that they are fully prepared to growing fruit and vegetables.
They have also helped Reception children plant spring bulbs and cut back the herbs in their herb garden.
A major part of their work involves linking with 2 other local primary schools and children from all 3 schools have worked hard on the projects in each other's schools, all focussing on improving Wildlife areas.
