Geography

Intent

Geography as a subject widens children’s capacity for understanding the natural world and those that live in it. It generates curiosity and interest in social, economic and environmental issues within a constantly changing world.  It provides a greater sense of appreciation and care for the Earth we all share.

Through our teaching, children at Gravel Hill will gain a lifelong interest in geography and a curiosity about the world. They will see geography as skills and knowledge which enable a better understanding of ever-changing, relevant and dynamic world issues.  Children will be taught the skills, knowledge and vocabulary to help them to form ideas and opinions about world issues and be able to express these to others.
