Intent
At Gravel Hill we believe that history plays an essential role in children's understanding of Britain's past and our links to the wider world.
We deliver history lessons which inspire children to want to know more about the past and to think and act as historians. Through each historic time period children will have the opportunity to investigate and interpret the past, understand chronology, build an overview of Britain’s past as well as that of the wider world, and to be able to communicate historically.
When children leave Gravel Hill they will have an excellent knowledge and understanding of a range of historical periods. The ability to reflect, debate, discuss and evaluate the past by questioning and using historical evidence. As well as taking these ideas and being able to communicate them confidently to a range of audiences.
